Match Report - As Brisbane has been pretty ordinary this year, this was a game we expected to win, so the 10-goal margin was icing on the cake. But besides Heater’s speccy there was not much about this game to write home about (especially Nate’s injury).  In fact, at the pub, there was more conversation than observation at times. Having established a decent lead at ¼ time, the intensity ebbed and flowed before cruising to the end.

Injuries and form have meant we haven’t been able to field the same side consecutively, contributing to an unsettled look. But since Anzac Day we are getting more consistent output from not just the A-graders, but also the next tier players like Sidey, Beams and Welly while Goldy, Sinclair, Keefe and Wood have been given valuable game time and have largely responded. Woody is the one who needs game time to develop confidence and consistency but I’m still not sure of his credentials against A-grade ruckmen.  Sidey had his best game for the year and must be in the top three for the Copeland. Great to see Didak have a pretty good game first up. At his best, his polish and finish can inspire teammates and win games.

This week sees us up against Geelong who had our measure last year.  But like us, they have had a less than stellar start to the year. It’ll be interesting to see Bucks’ approach to the Cats. One thing we have to do is limit the uncontested marks, either in general play or at kick-ins – something that has been more apparent this year. Make this mob earn every possession and curtail their run off the backline. Pies by 1-19pts.

Our sponsored player, Tom Young was best

a field in the Pies win over Port Melbourne

last week. Comments from VFL coach

Tarkyn Lockyer on  the Pies website:

Tom Young (27 disposals, 4 marks, 9

tackles):  Really explosive and used

the ball well.  His inside work was

terrific.

Highlight: Heater’s speccy; Did’s

goal late in the 3rd quarter.

Brisbane 8.10 (58)

Collingwood 17.14 (116)
